Maximum THC levels for hempseed foods and oil are important in clarifying the regulation of hemp-derived products that could have an impact later on CBD-containing foods, according to the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA).

The European Commission recently amended a regulation that introduces maximum levels of THC in hempseed foods and oil. These limits have been set at 3.0 mg/kg for dry products (flour, proteins, seeds, snacks) and 7.5 mg/kg for hempseed oil. The EIHA said it was the first time THC limits had been imposed for all EU member states and described it as “a huge step forward”.
