Germany puts legal cannabis back up the agenda – but EU and UN obstacles remain

The German government has performed an abrupt U-turn on prioritising recreational cannabis legislation just three months after the new coalition government said such plans were not among its priorities for this year.

Health minister Karl Lauterbach has now said the process to allow recreational cannabis would be accelerated, while finance minister Christian Lindner tweeted that legalisation would take place “soon”.
