It’s not NORML: cannabis advocates warn against ‘illegal and unproven’ intoxicants

In a move that may exacerbate already growing tensions between hemp and cannabis businesses, one of the oldest surviving and best known advocacy organisations for cannabis legalisation has come out strongly against hemp-derived intoxicating cannabinoids such as delta-8 THC.

The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) said hemp-derived intoxicating cannabinoids were not a workaround to bridge the gap until the legalisation of recreational cannabis in jurisdictions and could in fact hamper progress by undermining public health and safety and demonstrating to lawmakers how entrepreneurs could find loopholes and gaps in legislation.
