Legal hurdles impeding recreational cannabis legalisation in Mexico are expected to continue through 2024, industry members told CannIntelligence during the CannaMexico conference last month.

Though members of Mexico’s Senate and Chamber of Deputies approved a bill to legalise recreational cannabis in separate legislative sessions in 2020 and 2021, the initiative stalled in the bicameral Congress on both occasions.
