Russia plans to bring light to the grey area of industrial hemp definitions

The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade is planning to make changes to a 2020 government decree which establishes the varieties of hemp that can be cultivated for industrial purposes. The changes will clarify the definition of industrial hemp and the varieties that can be cultivated for industrial purposes.

Current regulations permit the cultivation of hemp with a THC content not exceeding 0.1% for industrial purposes but no further distinction between industrial hemp and “narcotic” cannabis is made. The new definitions are likely to be published in late March or early April 2022.
