Canada’s cannabis industry welcomes a federal budget full of good things

Canada’s cannabis trade is celebrating after the government tabled a budget calling for steps to streamline a variety of tax measures and launch a strategy group to examine ways to grow the industry.

“Today’s budget recognises the scale and impact of Canada’s cannabis sector,” said George Smitherman, president and CEO of the Cannabis Council of Canada, after the budget was unveiled. “The amendments to the Cannabis Excise Duty Framework are both technical and consequential for many licence-holders.”
