Canadian cannabis industry lobbies to reduce taxes to save companies

Canada’s cannabis industry has launched a two-day lobbying blitz of the country’s politicians, warning that the federal government has to act quickly to reduce excise duties and fees on the industry or risk many Canadian cannabis companies going out of business.

Speaking to reporters on Parliament Hill to mark the four-year anniversary of cannabis being legalised in the country, members of the Cannabis Council of Canada said they can’t wait for the legislative review of Canada’s cannabis laws, which was launched in September, for the government to lessen their tax burden.
