Industrial hemp farming is tolerated by Chinese authorities, but there is a lack of regulatory clarity; there is currently no mandatory national legislation for industrial hemp in China. Regional provinces that have historically been engaged with the hemp industry have been implementing supportive legislation; regional regulations impose varying restrictions on the extraction and manufacture of industrial hemp.
New national standards from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China are indicative of a more favourable approach towards hemp; in some regions, local authorities might required advance notification before engaging in CBD-related activities.
Finished products made from industrial hemp/CBD are primarily developed and sold by a single company in China.
