Czech Republic: On 29th January, the government discussed a proposal to classify cannabis with up to 1% THC and cannabis extract and tincture up to 1% THC as “psychomodulating substances”, which would lead to licensing fees, advertising bans and sales restrictions to minors, media
reports. We understand this proposal is for the regulation seeking to implement
law 321/2024 to regulate the manufacture, marketing and sale of psychomodulating substances. Industry representatives argue for an exemption for low-potency cannabis. For example, the Czech Hemp Cluster (CzecHemp) is
urging prime minister Petr Fiala to reject the inclusion of low-potency cannabis and its extracts on the list of psychomodulating substances, warning that such a decision would significantly harm the traditional cannabis industry in the Czech Republic.
