15th June 2023: US - Illinois: Governor J.B. Pritzker has signed a budget bill that grants licensed cannabis businesses access to state tax deductions currently prohibited at the federal level. The new provision in the state’s tax code allows the businesses to deduct an amount equivalent to the disallowed deductions under Section 280E of federal law. The budget bill also directs financial resources to a cannabis development fund and extends the deadline for conditional licensees to secure shopfronts.
11th November 2022: US - Illinois: Illinois is offering $8.75m in forgivable loans to social equity cannabis licensees. The loans will be "fully financed by the State" and "made available to all conditionally-approved social equity loan applicants in order to provide immediate access to capital". Individual loans may range from $50,000 to $500,000.
