High costs result in further delays to Belize’s cannabis referendum

Belize will defer a referendum vote on the legalisation of recreational cannabis brought about by opposition from national church leaders in the country, officials have said in a joint statement issued on 4th August.

A date for the future referendum has not been set at this point. It was meant to have been held within 30 days of the 4th August announcement, according to comments by prime minister John Briceño.
