Lausanne could become the second Swiss city after Basel to launch a recreational cannabis trial this year. But while Basel’s pilot will involve just 400 participants, Lausanne is aiming for triple that number.
And that’s not the only difference. In Basel, cannabis will be sold in local pharmacies. Lausanne opted for sales to be carried out in a dedicated outlet run by the nonprofit Cann-L, said Frank Zobel, co-director of Addiction Switzerland, an organisation that will study the effects of the pilot on cannabis users and on the black market.
