Native American tribes try to carve a niche in the cannabinoid business

Utah’s Native American namesake – the Ute tribe – has launched a company to manufacture products that combine hemp-derived cannabinoids with plants they have traditionally used for medicinal purposes.

For example, Ute Hemp LLC’s signature tincture product combines broad-spectrum CBD with chokeberries, which were traditionally used to treat sore throats and stomach cramps. Tea from the bark was used to treat colds, while the root was used to make tea as a sedative and stomach remedy.
