Incoming Colombian government has big plans for the country’s cannabis industry

Colombian president-elect Gustavo Petro says he will prioritise development of the nation’s cannabis industry and is promising that during his four-year term he will improve regulation, expand the existing legal framework and clarify production regulation as well as decriminalise consumption.

Petro, who won the 19th June presidential election alongside vice president-elect Francia Márquez, has detailed his administration’s plans for continued expansion of the national cannabis industry in a 54-page government programme.
