Medical cannabis could come to Japan after panel recommends legalisation

Japan has taken a step closer to legalising cannabinoid-based medicines and clarifying restrictions on hemp cultivation, though it is also set to strengthen measures against recreational cannabis use.

A Cannabis Control Review Subcommittee set up by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to examine legislative reform has recommended the government examine allowing use, import and manufacture of medical products containing cannabinoids.
