Czechs remain hopeful of surpassing toned-down German legalisation plans

The Czech Republic has acknowledged that it is coordinating the drafting of legislation to legalise recreational cannabis with its neighbour Germany but it appears to be unmoved by backtracking in Berlin.

The final shape of the Czech proposals could yet reflect the latest modifications by the German cabinet, but for now Czech plans still appear to heavily involve a legal commercial market. The Czech government estimates that taxing recreational cannabis could contribute as much as CZK15bn (€635m) a year to the national budget.
