European authorities have validated the novel food applications of at least five CBD producers, marking what one of the successful companies called an “important milestone” in the ongoing saga of EU CBD regulation.
The five applications that have reached the assessment stage of the EU novel food process were submitted by Czech company CBDepot of Czech Republic – the first applicant to receive validation status for synthesised CBD, in March 2020 – as well as Switzerland’s Linnea, Slovenia’s PharmaHemp, France’s Spectrums Europe and the British branch of Canada-based Brains Bioceutical. They were all among the more than 130 novel food applications that have been pending for more than two years.
