Bermuda to keep pushing for cannabis legalisation in wake of bill denial by UK

Bermudan lawmakers are vexed that UK authorities have not granted assent for a cannabis legalisation bill in the British Overseas Territory despite other commonwealth nations with the UK monarchy as their nominal head of state – such as Canada – having approved similar laws.

However, others say the proposed law was always flawed and the government pushed it through against strong opposition knowing it would fail, perhaps as a way of reigniting debate on the territory’s independent sovereignty.
