Vaping businesses in the US are experiencing a shift in consumer preferences for methods of extracting CBD and THC from cannabis, with more manufacturers developing distillers to help meet the growing demand for purer products.

Traditionally, CO2 extraction has been the dominant method for the creation of cannabis-related vaping products. But consumer interest in new methods such as distillates and live resin is taking over, according to a market analysis firm for the cannabis sector.

Data from BDS Analytics shows that while the bulk of CBD in vaping products was formerly produced by CO2-extraction, in the second quarter of 2017 those oils were overtaken by distillates, which offer greater control over flavour and product profile.
