The European Food Safety Authority (Efsa) has denied that it is waiting for the outcome of research on the safety of CBD by its US counterpart, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), before it lets validated candidates complete the novel food application process.
Efsa denied claims by one of the validated applicants in the process, which said the agency had advised it not to proceed with the toxicological studies it had required CBD firms to produce until the FDA published its own safety data.
