Europe seeks makeover for rules on CBD in cosmetics in wake of Kanavape ruling

A non-paper is being drafted by European authorities to examine how to change rules to formally permit the use of CBD in cosmetics in Europe. This would apply to European regulation part of the Courts of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) decision in the Kanavape ruling.

The Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) said there was a need to re-examine whether the prohibition under entry 306 of Annex II to the Cosmetic Products Regulation is still applicable.
