Arizona: Market and regulatory data analysis of the cannabis sector

30th October 2024: US - Arizona: The Arizona Dispensaries Association (ADA) has announced that starting 1st November 2024, the state will begin to allow recreational cannabis deliveries. Previously, legal cannabis delivery services were only available to the state’s medical cannabis patients. Delivery will be offered through individual dispensaries or third-party delivery services who will have to partner with a state-licensed dispensary to legally deliver the cannabis. Details of the new delivery programme are included in updated adult-use and medical cannabis rules posted by the state Department of Health Services. The changes take effect on 1st November.
15th March 2024: US - Arizona: Attorney general (AG) Kris Mayes has released an opinion highlighting that it’s illegal for businesses, such as convenience stores and fuel stations, to sell hemp-synthesised intoxicants without a licence to do so. She issued the opinion after two state Republican legislators who were concerned about unregulated hemp-derived THC sales asked her to clarify Arizona’s law.
3rd March 2023: US - Arizona: Senate Bill 1466 has passed the Senate and now heads to the House. The bill would revise general provisions regarding both medical and adult-use cannabis, including, among others, adding post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and autism spectrum disorder to the list of qualifying conditions for medical cannabis and requiring a QR code with specified information on cannabis product labelling.
21st February 2023: US - Arizona: Senate Bill 1271, which would make minor revisions to the state’s hemp law, has been passed by the Senate and now heads to the House. Among other changes it would modify definitions distinguishing “industrial hemp products” from “hemp-derived products”, and clarify hemp transportation requirements.
21st March 2022: US - Arizona: Senate Bill 1715 was passed by the Senate and now heads to the House. The bill would exclude "hemp-derived manufactured psychotropic cannabinoids", such as delta-8 THC and HHC, from the definitions of hemp products and would prohibit medical and recreational cannabis dispensaries from selling them.
