- Bahamas: The government has introduced the Cannabis Bill 2023, which would legalise and regulate cannabis for medical, religious and research purposes. If approved, the bill would allow specially trained medical practitioners to prescribe cannabis for a set of qualifying conditions that are to be determined by a special committee. Cannabis use and distribution would also be allowed for religious purposes as a sacrament in authorised Rastafarian places of worship. Additionally, the import and export of medical cannabis would be permitted, and possession of up to 30 g of cannabis for recreational purposes would be decriminalised. Hearings on the bill are expected to begin in September.
