US – Rhode Island: The Office of Cannabis Regulation (OCR) has issued Advertising Guidance for Hybrid Retail Licensees after governor Daniel McKee signed House Bill 5829 into law. The bill directs the OCR to establish advertising requirements for hybrid cannabis dispensaries that offer both medical and adult-use recreational cannabis.

US - Rhode Island: House Bill 5829 has passed the House and now heads to the Senate. It would call on the Office of Cannabis Regulation to issue advertising requirements for hybrid cannabis dispensaries, which dispense both medical and recreational cannabis.

US - Rhode Island: Governor Dan McKee stated yesterday that recreational cannabis sales will begin next week. The Department of Business Regulation’s Office of Cannabis Regulation has approved five medical cannabis dispensaries to begin selling recreational cannabis on 1st December.

US - Rhode Island: Rhode Island yesterday (25th May) became the 19th US state to legalise recreational cannabis when governor Dan McKee signed companion bills HB 7593 and SB 2430 into law, press reports. Recreational sales are set to begin on 1st December. Adults (21+) will be able to purchase and possess up to 1 oz of cannabis. They will also be allowed to grow up to six plants (three mature) for personal use. Recreational sales will be subject to the 7% state sales tax, a 10% excise tax, and a 3% local tax. To expedite the start date for sales, medical cannabis dispensaries will be able to start sales in December by applying for and receiving a hybrid retailer licence costing $125,000.

US - Rhode Island: The legislature has passed companion bills – House Bill 7593 and Senate Bill 2430 – to legalise recreational cannabis, which now head to the governor, who is expected to approve. They would allow the adult (21+) purchase and possession of up to 1 oz of cannabis and allow home growing of up to six plants (three mature) for personal use. Recreational sales would be able to begin on 1st December 2022 and would be subject to the state 7% sales tax, a 10% excise tax, and a 3% local tax.
