No UK novel food authorisations likely before mid-2023 – and no guarantees

It’s unlikely that any applications for novel food authorisation of CBD products in the UK will be considered for authorisation before mid-2023 – and being on the list of validated applications is no guarantee of eventual acceptance – according to Paul Tossell, head of the novel foods and radiological policy team at the UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA).

Tossell told CannIntelligence that 13 CBD applications had entered the risk assessment stage and more could join them during the remainder of 2022 and into 2023.
