A bill put forward in Peru seeks to establish regulation that would allow for the production and commercialisation of industrial hemp in the South American country.
The bill, presented by congressman Luis Ángel Aragón Carreño of the Popular Action Party, seeks to legalise the cultivation, harvesting, storage, transport, processing, sales, import and export of industrial hemp, which is defined in the proposal as a non-psychoactive cannabis plant with less than 1% THC. It also calls for hemp to be permitted for use in oils, tinctures, extracts, powders, food, veterinary and cosmetic products and textiles.
