Regulatory report: North Macedonia, January 2021

CBD with up to 0.2% THC is not a psychoactive substance according to the authorities in North Macedonia. High-THC cannabis extracts can only be legally used under prescription. We expect a bill amending the Law on Control of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances to be adopted in the first quarter of 2021. With the new law, industrial hemp cultivation and processing with limited purposes will be allowed. This report offers a comprehensive summary of the current regulatory framework in place for CBD and cannabis, as well as the possible changes that could come into effect with the adoption of the amending bill.
