Regulatory report: Slovakia, April 2021

Cultivation of industrial hemp of an EU variety with a THC content of up to 0.2% is allowed in Slovakia. CBD has been classed as a psychotropic substance in Slovakia; however, as of 1st May 2021 it will be removed from the list, which could open many doors for the sale of CBD in finished products.

This report offers an overview of the current regulatory framework in place in Slovakia, focusing on the regime around hemp and CBD – both extraction and in finished products, and import and export rules – as well as current rules surrounding medical and recreational cannabis.
