Panel urges closer regulation as Jersey’s medical cannabis industry moves ahead

The Channel Island of Jersey is continuing to build its cannabis industry, awarding its fifth cultivation licence to a startup amid calls from officials for stricter regulation of the business on the island.

The Jersey Health and Community Services Department issued the licence to cultivate, produce, possess and supply cannabis to Green Island Growers, a collective of local residents with backgrounds in engineering, agriculture, accounting and marketing, established in September 2019.
