Re-election of Florida governor DeSantis could hit Green Thumb’s Circle K deal

The comfortable re-election of Florida’s Republican governor Ron DeSantis raises doubts over the future of a deal between the convenience and fuel retailer Circle-K and Green Thumb Industries, a vertically integrated cannabis company, to roll out a series of small medical cannabis dispensaries in Circle K locations.

The deal, announced in October, would launch a pilot of ten medical dispensaries next year . They would operate under the brand name Rise Express and offer Florida’s estimated 700,000 medical cannabis cardholders a variety of branded products, from edibles and vapes to pre-rolled joints and premium flowers.
