The Argentine government has finally put enough flesh on the bones of its laws to allow the development of a hemp industry and expansion of its medical cannabis sector with the issuance of Decree 405/2023 on 7th August.
The approval of Law 27669 by the Chamber of Deputies in May 2022 first set out the regulatory framework for industrial hemp and medical cannabis. It was hyped as a positive for the country at the time, with president Alberto Fernández saying it could generate more than 10,000 jobs in the country.
