Argentina’s cannabis industry hopes Milei won’t swing the policy pendulum

The election of libertarian Javier Milei is causing as much worry as optimism in Argentina’s cannabis industry.

Somewhat surprisingly, Argentine industry members do not view the election of Milei as an unmitigated success for the sector. Although his libertarian stance does have the potential to support a legislative bill to approve legal recreational cannabis at a national level, there is also significant worry that, should Milei’s government disband the Ministry of Health, for example, progress in the recently legalised medicinal cannabis industry could be disrupted.
