While the National Congress continues to leave the question unanswered, the growing and importing of low-THC cannabis for medical and industrial uses could become legal in Brazil through a decision by the country’s most senior judges.

The Superior Court of Justice claimed jurisdiction to decide on the matter in March after a Brazilian-based biotechnology company requested a licence to grow hemp in the country.
