EU takes a step towards evaluating flower-based cannabis medications

EU authorities are taking the first steps towards potentially creating an EU herbal monograph, or list entry, that would pave the way for marketing authorisation applications for herbal medicines that contain cannabis flowers.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products has requested scientific data on cannabis flowers, which could lead to applications later this year. The submissions portal will closed on 14th May, after which the committee will begin evaluating responses.
