Peru: The Ministry of Health has published a
draft bill on the medicinal use of cannabis. The bill is now subject to a public consultation period, in which stakeholders or any person interested in the bill can submit questions and proposals to
webmaster@minsa.gob.pe. The consultation period started on 16th May and will be ongoing for 90 days. Once that period is concluded, the final draft of the bill will be published. The bill is aimed at regulating in more detail
Law 30681 on the use of medical cannabis. This current version of the bill proposes to establish further conditions and licences for the commercial or non-commercial cultivation and import of cannabis. It also proposes the creation of a patient registry and an importer/retailer registry, and establishes as mandatory the possession of a special medical prescription in order to access medical cannabis with a THC content above 1%.
