Novel food process ‘has trapped Britain’s CBD industry in a frustrating limbo’

A market that cannot innovate stagnates – and that is exactly what is happening with CBD in the UK because of delays in the novel food application process which mean companies cannot introduce any new products.

New products cannot be placed on the market without authorisation. Products that were on the market on 13th February 2020 can still be sold legally if they managed to submit an application by 31st March 2021 and the application is subsequently validated currently only around 50 products.
