Europe’s intoxicating hemp-derived cannabinoid market: analysis of 2023

The cannabis industry has, for the most part, been led by trends set in the US, which then spread to other international markets. The appearance of intoxicating hemp-derived cannabinoid (IHDC) products was no exception.

CannIntelligence published a report investigating the online availability and popularity of these intoxicating cannabinoids in Europe in the first quarter of 2023. Back then, over 600 retailers were found to be selling such products, and following a review undertaken during the third quarter of the year, this report identifies and examines any change in interest for these products from retailers and consumers amid an increasing number of European governments banning certain semi-synthetic cannabinoids and heavy monitoring by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA).
