US - California: The California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) has written to state attorney general Rob Bonta arguing that allowing California to enter into interstate cannabis commerce would not put it at legal risk and requesting an opinion on the subject. Bonta’s opinion, if he provides one, could have significant legal implications due to a California law passed last year. That new law would allow for interstate commerce of cannabis and would be triggered by one of four events, one of which is the AG issuing a written opinion that interstate commerce of cannabis “will not result in significant legal risk to the State of California under the federal Controlled Substances Act”.
