US – South Dakota: House Bill 1209 is with the governor after being passed by the Senate. It would require containers holding in-process hemp during transport to have a label stating that it is in process and not intended for human consumption. It would also repeal a requirement for the state attorney general to present a report on how legalising hemp has affected enforcement of other controlled substances law, such as cannabis prosecutions.

US – South Dakota: House Bill 1150 has been signed by the governor and enacted into law. It waives a medical cannabis patient’s fee for a second written certification after a follow-up assessment with their doctor. The fee can be waived once per calendar year.

US – South Dakota: House Bill 1053, which would prohibit written certification to obtain medical cannabis “to a patient who is pregnant or breastfeeding”, has been passed by the Senate and now heads to the governor’s desk.

US – South Dakota: Senate Bill 1 has been passed by the House in an amended version that must be reconciled with the Senate version before the bill heads to the governor’s desk. It would add eight specific qualifying conditions for medical cannabis: cancer, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Crohn’s disease, Aids, and HIV. In the House version, glaucoma was removed from the list. The bill would also remove the process for citizens to petition to add qualifying conditions and allow the Legislature to determine which ailments or disorders qualify for medical cannabis treatment.
