Ukraine: Mykhailo Radutskyi, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on National Health, Medical Aid and Medical Insurance, told press yesterday that the number of patients needing medical cannabis preparations in Ukraine is increasing. He said Bill 7457, regulating medical cannabis, was ready for its first reading, which is planned for February. He said he believed it had a chance of passing the vote, but that the Ukrainian public had not yet moved away from a stereotypical view of cannabis.

Ukraine: The head of the parliamentary committee on public health, medical care and medical insurance, Mykhailo Radutsky, has said there is not enough support in parliament to pass Bill 7457 on the legalisation of medical cannabis, media reports. The government supported the bill in June, however, it has not yet been discussed in parliament. Radutsky addded that at least 2m-3m Ukrainians needed medical cannabis before the full-scale war with Russia began in February, and that this number had increased significantly since.

Ukraine: Mykhailo Radutskyi of the ruling Servant of the People party, head of the parliamentary Committee on National Health, Medical Care and Medical Insurance, predicts that bill 7457 to legalise medical cannabis will have its first reading in the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) in August, media reports. “This is our third attempt to pass a law on medical cannabis. One was in the previous session, one in ours. The draft law will not pass easily because PR is more important to politicians than the needs of sick people,” Radutskyi said.

The bill would provide for the establishment of strict control over the cultivation, production and sale of drugs.

The bill would provide for the establishment of strict control over the cultivation, production and sale of cannabis-derived drugs and related scientific activities.

Ukraine: Health minister Viktor Liashko has said the ministry will submit a bill to legalise medical cannabis to parliament soon, media reports. However, the exact date has not been specified. Reportedly, the bill would require licences for any activity related to cannabis sales, production or research.
