On the surface, 2024 could seem like a disappointing year for commercial cannabinoids. Plans for recreational cannabis in the Czech Republic and Germany promised much but delivered little. The US never got round to rescheduling cannabis, and multiple jurisdictions across the globe started banning various intoxicating hemp-derived cannabinoids (IHDCs).
But scratch the surface and it really was not all that bad. Sure, no legal commercial recreational market emerged in Germany or the Czech Republic. But a burgeoning medical cannabis industry has sprung up to cater to those missed needs in something of a parallel to early US markets.
